QC View - Just barely usable and sometimes not
Have used Q-See’s QC line software (the app) for about three years. It is functionally very limited - for example, the playback scheme is difficult if not impossible to get working. The only good feature of the app was live camera preview. Now apparently, they’ve released an iPhone update and even that live preview feature has been screwed up. (Terrible programming!) if you try to look at live cameras feeds and you’re not on your hone network, you will most likely be “locked out”. The app is now a piece of useless crap unfortunately. I m going to try deleting and reloading it but I doubt that will cure anything.
Great app / great system
I bought the system for security reason and was extremely happy with it. Everyone wanted to know what system I had due to the clarity of the cameras. I have the 1080p nvr system. Well I set up this app on my iPhone's and iPads and it worked flawlessly. Great quality and while not very user friendly, I was able to get around and do what I needed to do ( view live cameras and view recorded video from the past ) when I first got the system, I had an iPhone 4s. I have since upgraded to the 6 plus and while it still works great, the images no longer fill up the screen as they did with the smaller 4s phone. I can easily zoom in on each camera and make it full the screen, but the app should be updated to do this for you. I have 1080p cameras and a 1080p screen on my phone. It shouldn't be that hard of a fix. So other than the screen issue, I have no other complaints.
UPDATE: new version fixed all my issues i had. No more problems. Great system. Push Notifications Stopped Working
One important function of this app is the ability to get push notifications on your IOS devices when the surveillance system detects motion on connected cameras. This feature worked well until this last week. Push notifications no longer work at all, on any of my IOS devices. It seems that the app developer has shut off this functionality recently, because the app has not been updated on the App Store. Push notifications are important on a product such as this and not having them makes the Q-See surveillance systems much less desirable than competitors such as Lorex, Swann, and Night Owl.
Other than the lack of push notifications, the app works well at viewing live video feeds. Viewing recorded video feeds by time or event are not intuitive, but can be learned and generally work well. Information
